Sugar gets a resize

I have finally come to terms with the fact that my baby/toddle/model/guinea pig does not comply with "standard" sizes in all of the great tutorials out there. Don't misunderstand me, I know Sugar has a few extra helpings on herself, but I figured the 2T patterns (she turned 1 in June) would work for her....try 4T and maybe a little more...I tend to over-trace patterns. So when this cute little dress (the Sophie shirt pattern from the tutorial at "Sew Like My Mom") didn't even come close to fitting Little Miss, I improvised by adding bias tape to expand it...

A simple request...

So my sixteen year old asked me to make her a pencil case...she picked a very cute, though maybe not the most "beginner" level pencil case for me to make her from the oodles of free tutorials on the web. From Sew, Mama, Sew, here it is...

It was a good exercise in things I had not attempted before...piping and a zipper included!
